Biography
MAXWELL J. SMITH focuses his practice in the field of education law. After serving as a school board attorney for several years, he now represents families in disputes with their local school districts using his experience to gain a competitive edge for his clients. Max is well-versed in the area of special education and aggressively advocates on behalf of classified students to obtain the educational programming they require. He also represents families in cases involving student discipline (including harassment, intimidation, and bullying investigations), pupil records, academic placement, and any other school-related matter. Max appears regularly before the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law and has a wealth of experience litigating education cases from inception through appeal to federal court.
Max earned his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Rutgers Law School. After graduating, he served as a law clerk for the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. He is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of New Jersey, as well as the United States District Court of New Jersey.
